CUIRASSE Troupe du 4ème Régiment de Cuirassiers, model 1822. Cast steel, tempered with rapeseed oil and blue annealed in a sand bath. Curved at the waist, the base has a flared shape; the breastplate bust is accentuated and the ridge of the dossière is pronounced. The breastplate is trimmed with 4 brass rivets, and the bib with 6. Each of the two suspenders has a black cowhide body, trimmed with two brass chains; the body is finished with a brass buttonhole plate with a heart-shaped leather tip; the suspender holder is brass with 3 rivets. Dated 1832 from the Klingenthal factory in France. Mid 19th c. Height of breastplate: 41 cm Poor condition, broken belt and leathers Appraisal Bertrand Malvaux
