[NOBLESSE] - LEHR (Ernest) - L'Alsace noble. Followed by : Le Livre d'or du patriciat de Strasbourg d'après des documents authentiques et en grande partie inédits. Paris, Veuve Berger-Levrault et Fils, 1870; 3 volumes in-4, XV + 408 + 412 + 512 pp, contemporary red half-chagrin with corners, ribbed spine, red heads.Saffroy 16401. Uncommon first edition of this reference work. "Despite its date, layout and insufficient sources, this compendium remains the essential work for the history and genealogy of the great Alsatian families. This suite, copies of which are hard to find and very expensive today, is even rarer when it is complete with all its plates, a number of which were destroyed by fire" (Gaston Saffroy, Bibliographie généalogique héraldique et nobiliaire de la France, 1970). Some foxing on the edges, but a fine copy, one of the few complete with all plates (there are said to be no more than fifty).
