S.l., s.e., 1756; in-12, V + 210 pp. in full contemporary porphyry calf, smooth spine with false nerves adorned with the Senones coat of arms (two salmons leaning against each other and set in palms, flanked by four crossbones), boards with the coat of arms of the Princes of Salm, double fillet framing the boards, fillet on the edges, interior lace, marbled edges (small leather loss on the upper cover, corners slightly dulled). Saffroy, I, 14916 and 14921. First edition. The work, which also appeared under the title "La Noblesse militaire opposée à la noblesse commerçante", is a refutation of the theses developed by Abbé Coyer in "La Noblesse commerçante". The title page has been rebacked, and the handwritten words "par le Chevalier d'Arc" added. Bookplate of brothers Louis and Arthur Benoit. A rare copy bearing the arms of the Principality of Salm-Salm, of which Senones was the capital.
