JEANTIN (Jean-François-Louis) - The ruins and chronicles of - Lot 320
JEANTIN (Jean-François-Louis) - The ruins and chronicles of Orval Abbey. Moral, religious and chivalric sketch of the history of the former county of Chiny. 2nd edition, corrected and considerably enlarged. Paris, Jules Tardieu, 1857; in-8, 456 pp, brown glazed half calf, smooth spine decorated with cold stamping, ornate headpieces (bound by Ecklé; tear to upper cuff). Second edition, with a signed autograph letter from the author. With lithographed frontispiece, a fold-out plan of the Abbey in fine, a fold-out view of the Abbey in 1760, a view of the Avioth baptistery and two out-of-text lithographs. A pleasant copy, despite the small flaw in the binding.
