Anne-Marie DAVID (XX-XXI) and Paul LANGE (XX-XXI) for DAVID - Lot 443
Anne-Marie DAVID (XX-XXI) and Paul LANGE (XX-XXI) for DAVID LANGE Octagonal console table in Plexiglas with two transparent glass tops Signed on one foot H 75 x W 120 x D 35 cm Minor wear In the early 1970s, the two designers turned their attention to transparent materials for transparent designer furniture, known as Plexiglas and Altuglas. In their studio at the end of a small Parisian cul-de-sac, the two lovers designed furniture with simple, obvious lines. They give shape to the prototypes, taking advantage of the material-structure, "acrylic glass", to let light into the furniture. At the 1972 Salon Ateliers d'arts de France, better known today as "Maison & Objets", they presented seven models. The seduction of the first transparent furniture, unprecedented in the French design landscape, was immediate.
