JAPAN, Edo period (1600-1868) Katana, saber Slightly curved blade with a few minor chips on the cutting edge, with a wide and complex temper line, but out of polished condition to appreciate all its characteristics. Unsigned silk, silver habaki. Tsuba in black patinated iron, decorated with navy anchors in silver and gilding. Gilded shakudo menuki depicting rabbits. Fuchi and kashira decorated with waves and birds on a nanako background, in gold-embellished shakudo. Dark red lacquer scabbard, black braid (re-braided) on stingray.
