The Corps Rhenania Heidelberg is one of the city's oldest student brotherhoods. Although it was officially founded in its present form on January 15, 1849, its origins date back to 1802, or even earlier. Its name, Rhenania, refers to the Rhine region, where most of the founding members came from. True to its spirit of openness, Rhenania has always welcomed members from many countries, and its members have pursued careers in a variety of fields and across the globe. One of the fundamental values of the brotherhood is the enduring friendship and mutual support between its members, uniting the youngest and the oldest over 90 years of age.
