SARREGUEMINES, circa 1880 - Lot 69
SARREGUEMINES, circa 1880 Decorative dish in fine earthenware coated with glazes colored by metallic oxides, known as Majolique. This piece bears the shape number "767", which would correspond to a "Console d'encoignure" in the Sarreguemines faïencerie's list of fancy and decorative object numbers. This number, punched into the paste by the worker, is incorrect. Obtained by casting, in a green bronze color. Nude figures in relief in the basin. On the wing, alternating relief decoration of mascarons, figures and animals. This design evokes ancient Rome. Holes for hanging on base. Engraved markings under the base: "C 03 - SARREGUEMINES" for the factory, "C 07 - MAJOLICA", "767" shape number and "R" shaping mark. Diameter: 43 cm Minor wear
