SARREGUEMINES "Tête d'Alsacienne" ashtray Circa 1911-12 Majolica ashtray in fine earthenware coated with glazes colored with metallic oxides. Carries the shape number "4400", which corresponds to "Cendrier Tête d'Alsacienne" in the Sarreguemines faïencerie's list of fancy and decorative object numbers. Obtained by molding, it depicts in slight relief a young woman's head wearing an Alsatian headdress. Two holes in the heel allow the piece to be hung. Intaglio mark under the base: "C 11A - SARREGUEMINES" for the factory, shape number "4400", paste number "227" and "V" and "D" shaping marks. L18 x W 16.5 cm Glaze crack on back
