Monastery TABLE, bench and two miniature chairs, called "de - Lot 283
Monastery TABLE, bench and two miniature chairs, called "de maîtrise". Regional style, in dark-stained walnut. The rectangular table opens at the top into a niche lined with red velvet. It also has a drawer in the waistband and is carved with a floral motif. It stands on two curved X-shaped legs joined by a brace. The chairs feature a wide openwork back, a straw-covered seat that opens onto a niche upholstered in red velvet, and rest on a short scalloped base. The bench, with its long rectangular seat and squared, quadrangular base, is more strictly reminiscent of monastic furniture. Table dimensions: H 12 x W 27 x D 12 cm Minor wear
