Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904) - Lot 58
Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904)
Large soliflore vase in light amber glass with Venetian ribs, the piriform base with flattened belly and straight body flaring out towards a neck with circular opening.
It features an acid-etched cameo and enamel decoration of the branches of a fruit tree rich with pink and white flowers and green leaves encircled by a gilded fillet wrapped around the body of the vase on a background sprinkled with brown powdered interleaves, and on one side of the base a tree raising its numerous branches above catkins that have fallen to the ground, and on the other a gilded pheasant walking with its head turned backwards, showing the right side of its body and the rich polychromy of its plumage in opaque ochre, black, green, pink and brown enamels and a long train of gray feathers.
The body of the vase rises slightly obliquely from its base.
Circa 1890
Signature under the base in black enamel letters: E. Gallé, deposited, Nancy.
