There are two versions of this model, one with the gazelle's viscera visible, the other more commercial version without this anatomical detail. In the case of the first version, very few copies were published during the artist's lifetime. Most surviving examples come from a master model acquired during the artist's lifetime, but for which the owner commissioned posthumous prints. The casting technique and the overall cold working suggest that our copy belongs to this corpus.
