CALMET (Dom Augustin), VILLEMIN DE HELDENFELD (Joseph Bernar - Lot 844
Florence, Chez François Moücke, 1762; 2 parts in 1 volume in-folio, VII + LXXXV + LXXXXIV pp. + interleaved leaves of plates not included in the pagination, brown half-chagrin from the second half of the 19th century, spine decorated with nerves (minor spotting). Edited by Abbé Villemin de Heldenfeld, this is the second edition of Dom Calmet's dissertation on the medallion of the Dukes of Lorraine, the first having appeared in 1736, in in-4 format. The work, based on the medallion of Ferdinand de Saint-Urbain, is illustrated by Giuliano Traballesi and Giuseppe Magni with a frontispiece and 77 plates (out of 78) engraved on copper by Pietro Antonio Pazzi and Carlo Faucci (portraits of the dukes and duchesses of Lorraine, plates of epigraphic inscriptions, emblems, coats of arms, etc.). Some leaves a little browned, traces of marginal wetness not serious: the copy is in good overall condition. Ex-libris Arthur Benoit. As is.
